Our background

Bulongwa Health Sciences institute is owned by SOUTH CENTRAL DIOCESE of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT).

This Institute is a source of two one year courses namely Nursing Assistants and Dental surgery Assistants which were started in 1991 and ended in 2003 by the advice of the Government under Ministry of Health and Social welfare.

South Central Diocese of ELCT came up with an idea of establishing Courses of Diploma in clinical Dentistry and Nursing.

In 2004 the proposal were sent to National council for Technical Education (NACTE) and to the Ministry of health and social welfare. The assessment team was sent to assess the possibilities of establishing these courses. Diploma in clinical Dentistry was allowed to be established in 2004, while Nursing Certificate course was later allowed in 2009.
