Campus Life

Accommodation

Students are accommodated in institute hostels at different locations on campus. The Institute does not provide accommodation for families. A student is free to look for one’s own accommodation offcampus. Students who are interested in off-campus accommodation should contact the Warden who is responsible for making arrangements about students‟ accommodation. Students accommodated in the Institute hostels are required to pay accommodation fees at an approved rate. All payments for accommodation are made in advance. Students who fail to pay accommodation fees are not allowed to sit for the institution examinations (proposed).

Religious life

Tanzania is a secular state. The BHSI is the religious institution. Therefore, students have complete freedom of religious worship as long as it is intended to promote students‟ welfare and encourage positive religious values while observing the present rules and regulations. The Church is available in the Hospital premises. Other Churches are also available within the community around the Institute.

Food Services

The Institute provides meals services including breakfast, lunch and dinner for in campus students who have paid for. Off campus Students are required to arrange their own. The Institute hostels do not provide cooking facilities; and therefore students are not allowed to prepare meals in the institute hostels.

Medical Services

Medical services are available on-campus. Students are required to pay for medical fees through their Health Insurance. It is important to note that prior to admission to the Institution, each student is required to furnish the institute with satisfactory information about one’s health status by handing in a medical report from a recognized medical practitioner or medical officer.

Students Administration, Welfare and Discipline

Matters pertaining to student’s administration, welfare and discipline are stipulated in the Bulongwa Health Sciences Institute student Charter, Part ….. Rule …. to ….. The Department of Students Administration headed by the Warden is responsible for students’ administration and welfare services. The office is also responsible for handling students’ disciplinary matters as well as providing counseling services.
